Every home is unique, just like each customer. That's why no two homes are the same. At Bend Brothers Moving, we've developed a comprehensive guide based on the average household size and expected furnishings. It's a helpful reference to get an idea of what to expect. However, please keep in mind that the final cost will be determined by the actual time required. We're more than happy to provide an in-person estimate, so you can have a clear understanding of the cost involved in your move. See our Moving Guide to learn how long your move might take
At Bend Brothers Moving, we prioritize the protection of your belongings during the move. You can count on us because we are fully licensed and insured. We offer two insurance options to safeguard your belongings when we are transporting your household goods: released value protection and replacement cost protection.
With released value protection, damaged items are covered at a value of 60 cents per pound per article, and the best part is, it's absolutely free! Alternatively, you can opt for replacement cost protection. This comprehensive option values goods at $6.00 per pound times the weight of the shipment or the declared lump sum value, whichever is higher. The cost for replacement cost protection is determined based on the declared lump sum value, estimated at a rate of $.85 per each $100.00 of value. For example, if you declare your belongings at a lump sum value of $40,000, the cost would be $340.00.
To ensure a smooth and worry-free move, we carry essential insurance coverage such as Business Liability, Cargo Insurance, Business Auto, and Workers Comp for our employees. At Bend Brothers Moving, we are committed to providing excellent service, and we are more than happy to provide a Certificate of Insurance.

One of the most common questions we receive is "If something is damaged during my move, what happens?" The answer depends on the valuation option selected before your move begins. While every effort is made to safely transport your belongings, moving furniture involves handling large, heavy, and sometimes fragile items. For that reason, Oregon household goods carriers are required to offer customers valuation options that establish the carrier's maximum liability should loss or damage occur. Valuation protection is not the same as insurance. Instead, it establishes the carrier's financial responsibility in accordance with the Oregon Household Goods Tariff.
Released Value Protection is provided at no additional charge.
Under this option, the carrier's liability is limited to $0.60 per pound per article if the carrier is found liable for loss or damage.
Example:
A 50-pound dresser damaged during transportation would have a maximum liability of:
50 lbs × $0.60 = $30.00
Released Value Protection is the option selected by many customers moving lower-value household goods.
Full Value Replacement Protection
Customers may elect Full Replacement Value Protection for an additional charge.
When applicable, this option provides greater financial protection than Released Value Protection if the carrier is liable for damage or loss.
Depending on the circumstances, the carrier may choose the remedy that results in the lowest reasonable cost, which may include:
Important Limitations to Liability
Even when Full Replacement Value Protection is selected, the Oregon Household Goods Tariff contains certain provisions that may establish different methods of valuation for specific categories of property.
Examples may include:
These provisions are established by regulation and apply uniformly to licensed Oregon household goods carriers.
Yes, you are free to purchase insurance for your goods from someone other than the mover. Some homeowners or renters' insurance policies, or third-party insurers, may offer additional protection for household goods during a move. If you're interested in coverage beyond the valuation options offered by your mover, check with your insurance provider before your move.
Claims must be submitted to Bend Brothers Moving in writing within three (3) months of the date of delivery, in accordance with the Oregon Household Goods Information Bulletin. To request a Statement of Claim or begin the claims process, please contact Stephanie Cessna at stephaniecessna@bendbrothersmoving.com
To assist us in completing a thorough investigation, please include:
Please do not repair, dispose of, or alter the damaged item until the claim has been reviewed, as doing so may affect our ability to inspect the item and properly evaluate the claim.
Ready-to-Assemble (RTA) furniture includes many items purchased from retailers such as Amazon, IKEA, Wayfair, Walmart, Target, Costco, and similar retailers that are shipped in a flat-pack or knock-down condition and assembled by the purchaser. Common examples include bookcases, desks, entertainment centers, TV stands, shelving units, cabinets, and similar furniture.
Although customers may elect Full Replacement Value Protection, the Oregon Household Goods Tariff contains specific provisions governing qualifying Ready-to-Assemble furniture. These provisions apply regardless of the valuation option selected for the shipment.
The Oregon Household Goods Tariff recognizes that Ready-to-Assemble furniture is constructed differently than traditionally manufactured furniture. These items are typically designed for one-time assembly and are generally not intended to withstand repeated transportation, handling, disassembly, and reassembly in the same manner as traditional furniture. As a result, they are more susceptible to damage during the normal rigors of moving.
The tariff also recognizes that the cost to repair Ready-to-Assemble furniture often exceeds the item's original purchase price, making repair impractical or economically unreasonable.
For these reasons, the Oregon Household Goods Tariff establishes a separate method of valuation for qualifying Ready-to-Assemble furniture. When applicable, carrier liability is limited to $0.60 per pound of the item's actual weight, as provided by the tariff.
If you are unsure whether an item qualifies as Ready-to-Assemble furniture, we encourage you to ask us before your move. We'll be happy to explain how the Oregon Household Goods Tariff may apply to your belongings so you can make an informed decision regarding your valuation coverage.
